Аннотация: This study addresses the species diversity of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and zoobenthos in 28 Arctic lakes located in the Taimyr Peninsula within a radius of about 100 km from the city of Norilsk. The purpose of the study was to compare the biodiversity between four zones selected based on the distance of the lake from Nornickel fПоказать полностьюacilities: zones of intense, moderate, and low impact (ZZV, ZSV, and ZNV, respectively) and the reference zone (ZFV). Beta diversity analysis based on the Bray–Curtis dissimilarity index has not revealed any significant differences between the lakes in the ZZV and other zones. The structures of the planktonic and benthic community substantially alter only in six lakes located in close proximity to the industrial area. In other lakes, the changes are less pronounced and their community compositions are most likely determined by natural factors rather than by the level of anthropogenic impact. Significant differences between the zones have been revealed for the average number of species and Shannon index: both indicators were significantly higher for zooplankton in lakes of ZFV and ZNV than for ZZV and ZSV and for zoobenthos in lakes of ZSV than for ZZV lakes. Significant differences in biomass have been observed only for phytoplankton: it was higher in the ZZV than in the ZSV. Therefore, in addition to changes in species composition, it is necessary to take into account the number of species, Shannon index, and biomass when determining the extent of industrial impact on planktonic and benthic communities. Alterations of plankton and benthos community structures recorded here are similar to those observed under eutrophication of a water body.
